When will Chargers’ Jim Harbaugh face off vs. Ravens’ John Harbaugh in 2024?

The Ravens’ John Harbaugh and Chargers’ Jim Harbaugh faced off at Super Bowl XLVII in February 2013, with John Harbaugh’s Ravens taking home a 34-31 win.

Since then, Jim Harbaugh went on to win the 2023-2024 national championship with his alma mater, the Michigan Wolverines, setting up what could be one of, if not the biggest games of the 2024 NFL season this fall, the date of which was just revealed.

Chargers news has come fast and furious this year, with Jim Harbaugh’s team mentioned as the possible long-term home of an undrafted free agent few saw coming. The Chargers franchise is also busy mourning the loss of the all-time winningest general manager in team history, AJ Smith.

With the date finally revealed, fans have taken to the airwaves to discuss what could happen when the two football coaching icons finally meet again on the professional football gridiron.

Harbaugh vs. Harbaugh Game Set

The Harbaugh vs. Harbaugh matchup is set for Week 12 on Monday Night Football at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif., giving Jim Harbaugh a potential leg up in winning the rubber match between he and his brother.

The matchup will be one of a Ravens team that went to the AFC Conference Championship Game last season and a Chargers team that struggled mightily even with Justin Herbert at the controls of its offensive engine.

The Harbaugh brothers’ careers are expected to be hotly debated leading up to the game. The younger brother, Jim Harbaugh, has a 44-19 record in the NFL compared to John Harbaugh’s 171-108 record. Jim Harbaugh’s 49ers were led by Colin Kaepernick, wide receiver Michael Crabtree and running back Frank Gore among others, but couldn’t get it done in 2013’s Super Bowl against Joe Flacco, Ray Rice and John Harbaugh’s Ravens.

Chargers, Ravens Fans React to 2024 ‘Harbaugh Bowl’ Matchup

Fans and media outlets reacted to the long-awaited news on X with emojis and excitement.

“Oh this one is (fire),” one page wrote with four explosion emojis at the end of their message.

“Ahhhhhh,” another fan said simply in excitement.

Another fans shared emoji faces with stars in their eyes, perhaps in reference to the star power that will be on display when the two legendary brothers finally meet.

The reactions came amid talk of the Chargers’ biggest question mark: who will become the team’s WR1 for Herbert this season, with Quentin Johnston the likely winner of that competition, although he still has a long way to go to reach the top Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers’ depth chart.
